Ensuring public health readiness
The goal for this project was to create a state-of-the-art facility for Des Moines County Public Health, ensuring efficient and effective community healthcare services.
Amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, it became startlingly clear that Burlington's Des Moines County Department of Public Health (DMCPH) deserved better. Their downtown facility, besieged by geographical constraints and outdated infrastructure, was simply not up to the task of defending our community in these critical times. CMBA Architects has since been commissioned to design a new, CMS-certified $3 million, 8600-square-foot health building, set for completion by Summer 2024. Strategically situated in a residential zone with interstate proximity, this single-story facility will boast ample parking, clinics for immunizations and STD testing, a drive-thru vaccine distribution garage, staff offices, support spaces and a spacious conference room, ensuring efficient care delivery and community service.
