Our lineage includes connections to the regionally renowned architect William Steele, a contemporary of American architectural greats and a student of Louis Sullivan. The legacy of Steele, along with original drawings from our archives, forms the bedrock of our heritage.

The modern era of our firm began with James Duffy in 1963, leading to significant milestones including the acquisition of the Beuttler firm in the 1980s and a merger with James Cannon & Associates in 2002. Our growth continued with the addition of offices in Spencer and Des Moines, Iowa. In 2017, embracing our legacy and future, we streamlined our name to CMBA Architects, symbolizing our continuous evolution and commitment to architectural excellence.
