Expanding to meet growing needs
The vision was to create a phased solution for Siouxland Christian that accommodates growth while enhancing functionality and comfort. The design ensures flexibility and efficiency to meet current and future needs.
Due to our long-term relationship, CMBA recently completed master planning with Siouxland Christian. It quickly became obvious that the school had exceeded their capacity. Therefore, a four phase addition and renovation to a nearby strip mall would allow high school students to vacate the current facility opening up needed space for the growing elementary and middle school student population. The new space needed to be flexible, secure, comfortable and feel like home.
Phase 1, currently in design, is the renovation of an existing retail store and addition to the north of the building. This space will be renovated to include the majority of the core academic spaces. The addition will provide a cafeteria and central district kitchen to provide meals for the entire student population. As the chapel is not until a later phase, but of significant importance, it was also imperative that a temporary chapel space be allocated for.
Phase 2 will include the addition of a chapel/performing arts auditorium, admin offices and a secure main entry. Phase 3 involves the renovation of an adjacent tenant space to add athletic fitness spaces, weight room and more academic spaces to move the junior high students. Phase 4 will be the addition of a competition gym.
A major challenge was to ensure that phasing is done in a way that is efficient, meets current needs, and accommodates for future phases.
