Rebuilding for growth and community
The vision was to create a facility that enhances athletic and academic programs while supporting broader community needs. The design focuses on providing safe and versatile spaces for both students and residents.
In the winter of 2021, structural elements of the district’s gym roof began to fail due to storm damage. This rendered the gym unstable and forced the district to evaluate future options for a replacement.
The School Board chose to explore options and gauge community interest for facility improvements. After engaging with administration, teachers, coaches, parents and alumni, it was determined to move forward with the solution that had the most impact on achieving the district’s goals.
The project, currently under construction, includes a competition gym, locker rooms, weight room, fitness area with state-of-the-art equipment, concessions/restrooms, industrial tech/ag classrooms and lab, art room, music room with ample band storage and contemporary furniture ensuring a fully equipped and functional space upon completion.
The addition also creates a new main, secured entry on the west side and a secondary entry on the east side for community access to the fitness room and gym.
