Creating a Net-Zero Community Hub for Adult Day Services
The goal was to expand Goodwill’s adult day habilitation program with a modern facility that supports community integration and operates as a net-zero energy building.
Goodwill of the Great Plains partnered with us to create a state of the art expansion that strengthens their adult day habilitation programs and opens new opportunities for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. The design provides space for daily programming while focusing on how participants can connect with the broader community through shared activity areas, a rentable gym and flexible meeting rooms that welcome local groups.
We worked closely with Goodwill to align daily care needs with sustainable strategies so the building generates enough energy on site through geothermal and solar systems to offset its annual use. This net zero approach supports long term operational savings and reflects the mission driven values of the organization. Durable low maintenance products were selected to support staff, participants and caregivers and to ensure the building can serve the community for decades.
The result is a welcoming community center that expands their services and demonstrates environmental leadership in the region.
