Creating a collaborative learning space
The vision was to design a new elementary school that fosters collaboration and a neighborhood classroom feel for Preschool through 2nd grade. The facility includes 25 classrooms and spaces tailored for student and educator interaction.
Gilbert Community Schools is a rapidly growing district. After completing a master plan, a bond referendum was passed with 83% community support. The goal was to optimize spaces for teachers and students to utilize proper methodologies, as well as, implement a plan to stagger large projects to phase construction.
A new elementary school, housing Preschool – 2nd grade, will provide students with a neighborhood classroom feel with a focus on student and educator collaboration. Along with a secure entrance, the new building will have 25 classrooms, media center, cafeteria, new gym, fenced playground and refined parent/bus drop-off. Upon completion of the new elementary, the existing elementary will be demolished.
