Expanding Access to the School’s Mental Health Services
The goal was to create a dedicated clinical environment that supports confidential care delivery for PreK-12 students and staff while providing space for graduate training and research collaboration.
The renovation of the fifth and sixth floors of the Blank Honors Center creates a modern home for the Belin-Blank Center and the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health. The project supports the clinic’s mission to improve access to mental health services for PreK-12 students and staff through individual and group therapy and post-crisis support, delivered primarily via telehealth. The fifth-floor renovation includes 20 private offices, 5 testing rooms, 3 workroom-storage rooms, 2 therapy-conference rooms, a single-user restroom and a reception-waiting area.
The sixth-floor renovation provides an open office space, a conference room and a storage room. Shared clinic rooms, reception areas, conference space and storage support collaboration across the two clinics, while private offices ensure confidential care for clients. With the existing layout unable to support both clinics, the renovation creates the space needed for clinical services, research and the supervision and training of graduate students pursuing careers in mental health.
