The Lindquist Center was designed in 1970 by renowned architect Walter Netsch based on an abstract concept titled “field theory”. The result is irregularly shaped spaces where users have no orientation or focus. The Educational Technology Center desired a cohesive space for active learning. A portion of ceiling was removed to create a focus and sense of reference within the irregular space. Color was used to depict areas of importance, such as active learning stations (green) and the connection between the information desk and a classroom (orange). The carpet pattern reinforces the field theory concept in tones of gray with green accents.
