Revitalizing Morningside University's Learning Center
The goal was to enhance accessibility, increase natural light and provide versatile seating options to create a dynamic learning environment for students.
We added a new entrance to the learning center with stairs that can be accessed directly off the mall so students can easily enter the space. We relocated a large portion of the book stacks and added a variety of seating areas for students. One of the factors that drastically changed the feel of the space was cutting openings in the exterior wall and bringing in natural light. In addition to reversing the entrance, the design created dramatic views to and from the building.
