Wellmark YMCA

Phase I of the Wellmark YMCA project included the renovation of the existing building. The lower level houses branch offices, a community room and lockers. The upper level now provides space for eight handball courts, two basketball courts, an exercise room, a spinning room and many sports machines. Phase II completed the natatorium addition. Spectators of swimming events are able to enter at the skywalk level and proceed down to seating. This allows the upper level corridor to be cantilevered over public sidewalks and greatly increases the available footprint. The exterior enclosure of the natatorium addition was sensitively designed to complement and enhance the aesthetic image of the existing building.
