What inspired you to work at CMBA?
I was engaged to marry a farmer in NW Iowa and wanted to remain in the architecture profession. And, as luck would have it, CMBA (then Architects Collaborative) had an office in Spencer. The stars all aligned… and I can have the best of both worlds – practicing architecture AND farming with my husband, living two stop signs (and 8 miles) from our office, parking less than a block from the office door (for free!)!
What is something that would surprise people to know about you?
I believe you can’t say you don’t like something if you’ve never tried it. And I had to eat those words – literally – more than once… Some things I’ve eaten while traveling: sparrows, swallow nests in soup, frogs legs, camel, camel milk, cat, rat, snails from their shells, blood sausage, haggis, and probably others… if I think a little more.
