What is something that would surprise people to know about you?
I am a bit of a LEGO fan and have started a small collection of LEGO Architectural Series buildings, thanks, in part, to Jim Brisnehan’s influence. I also help my young grandchildren build towering LEGO structures that we can knock over when we are done.
What is your favorite way to give back?
I am chairman of the Spencer Avenue of Flags committee. The Avenue of Flags is an association committed to preserving the burial flags that are donated to our group by deceased veteran’s families, and placed on display in Spencer’s two cemeteries on Memorial Day. My dad, a WWII veteran, helped start this in 1964, in association with the local VFW and American Legion veterans’ organizations. The display has grown from 90 to over 1400 flags. New flags are dedicated during the Memorial Day service each year, and have been part of our family’s heritage since the beginning.
