CMBA’S Top 10 List of 2014 Milestones

A little piece of trivia – a CMBA design competition entry was juried by the David Letterman show. We won that jury and more importantly, the local one. We won the project and completed the building. You’ll have to see me if you want the rest of the “story.”

Letterman was famous for his “Top 10” lists. In honor of him, and a great year here at CMBA, I thought I’d share our top 2014 milestones:

#10 Golf Champs

My team won the annual CMBA golf tournament. Did I mention I was the Tournament Director?

#9 Professional Achievement

Two employees completed their goal to achieve professional licensure. This is an 8–10 year process and quite an achievement for Lee Beukelman and Troy Keilig. Congratulations!

#8 New Teammates

CMBA welcomed eight new employees in 2014. We have a great team here at CMBA. Our talented team is what helps us achieve every success we have and every one of these eight has helped make us better. We currently have four openings, so if you know of creative people looking to join a great team, send them our way!

#7 CMBA Knows How to Have Fun

In February, we held our annual Holiday party for our Sioux City office, featuring the “Star-chitecture” awards. Everyone won an award – some were serious achievements and a few were just fun. For example, the host showed up in a tuxedo and boxers, because his pants were at the cleaners. I won the “King-O-Fun” award.
P.S. I was the host.

#6 Giving Back

CMBA initiated and co-hosted a United Way Pie Throw Down. Several of us took one for the team and raised money for a great cause.

#5 CMBA Has a Plan

With the help of all our employees, we completed a strategic plan. We are well on our way, with many accomplishments already. Look for more news from CMBA in 2015.

#4 Always Improving

CMBA has begun implementation on three major software changes and adopted new construction document standards. Though it was/is painful, we survived. Along the way we greatly enhanced our Quality Control procedures and have seen great results. CMBA will be even better in 2015 because of some really hard work in 2014.

#3 Committed to Our Communities

Our Spencer team renovated new office space in a historic downtown building this year. Now all three of our offices are reclaimed buildings, with contemporary interiors – all in thriving downtown districts. This exemplifies our commitment to both sustainability and the communities where we are located.

#2 CMBA is a Great Place to Work

ZweigWhite, the leading business consulting company in the A/E industry, ranked CMBA #6 in North America on their 2014 Best Firms to Work For. Accepting this award on behalf of our partners and employees, at a red carpet event in Beverly Hills, was a career highlight.

#1 Great Clients, Great Projects, and a Chance to Make a Difference

In 2014, we got to do a lot of great projects for great clients – some new and some very long-term. Serving you and helping you have outstanding facilities that achieve your mission is our calling and our passion.

Thanks for allowing us to be part of the great things you are doing.
